We may be unhappy based on fiscal security. But if you look around, everyone is still doing alright. Afterall, hippies don't really care about money.

High foreclosure rate, high unemployment, and high non-mortgage debt is how they based it.

ReplyDeleteSo there might be a silver lining to the cloud over the Oregonian parade. If investment is scared away, construction jobs are limited, and everything else on the verge of going to shit, than no more people will come to the state (especially Mexicans although the ones who are already here will remain so according to this: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/01/14/AR2009011401366.html)
Also, yuppies tend to be much more melodramatic than working people. I can't find the source but I remember reading an article citing how much more depressed Europeans are compared to West Africans, probably the same thing with Oregon.
