Obama's Greatest Accomplishment - So Far

Prof Engram has another great article up. This one showing that Obama has succeeded in working a miracle in one area: rehabilitating the military and security policies of George Bush. Seeing as how those policies were one of the main jabs at the Republican nominees in the election, it truly shows the power of the masses to be led/blinded/whatever by a leader they truly love coupled with a compliant media. Almost-but-not-quite every one of the policies for Iraq, Afghanistan, and National Security at home that George Bush was carrying out are being continued by Obama. Every one of the reasons Libs got all red in the face and angry at George Bush, that your liberal friends and family told you was the reason they hated him and could not vote for a Republican, is being carried out by the Obama administration. And no more than a tiny little peep out of the press.

Again, kudos from The Robinson Talking Points Blog, President Obama, for completely reversing yourself from your campaign promises and having none of your glazed-eyed supporters even notice. That's the sign of a true leader!

A couple of exceptions to this that are important are Missile Defense and Iran policy I would say. A telling but more minor issue is his blatant dissing of Britain and honoring tyrannical muslim leaders.

Also, this doesn't mean The Robinson Talking Points blog has become a cheerleader for the Obama Administration: as noted all over this blog, he is doing his damnedest to honor his campaign statements of redistribution of wealth in this country and turning it into a failed 3rd-world-nation like his pappy lived in.

America is spending its way to economic ruin.

I read a good article that talks about the deficit spending the government is doing and gives some numbers that illustrates the situation and states that it is unsustainable. (Some deficit spending is necessary; for example, deficit spending led to America becoming a prosperous nation during its early history. But if carried to far it can destroy a nation's economy. An example, you need to borrow money to buy a car so you can travel to work.)

(If you want to understand what deficit spending is, read the article 'Egalitarianism and Inflation by Ayn Rand. The article describes what deficit spending is in the most basic terms and where it leads to, last half is good. "You have all heard of some manipulator who does not work, but lives in luxury by obtaining a loan, which he the repays by obtaining another loan elsewhere, which he repays by obtaining another loan, etc. You know that his policy can’t go on forever, that it catches up with him eventually and he [C]rashes. But what if that manipulator is the government." If you have forty minutes, you can listen to it at AynRand.org)

The article points out that the optimum size of government is 25% of total economic output of a nation for a year, GDP. Beyond that level government spending will destroy the economy.( It was 100% at the end of WW 2 and in 1995 50%. All though the current conditions are something new.) In 2008 the government spending equaled 36%. In 2009 it will equal 43%. And, " Debt held by the public would rise, from 41 percent of GDP in 2008 to 57 percent in 2009 and then to 82 percent of GDP by 2019 (compared with 56 percent of GDP in that year under baseline assumptions). Hayek warned, "... democracy will have to learn that it must pay for its own follies and that it cannot draw unlimited checks on the future to solve its present problems."

The article states an interesting conclusion: "At some point, the government will NOT be able to fulfill its obligations and the public will vote more power to the state to fulfill these obligations and implement the ideas it has promised. This cycle inevitably leads to tyranny as Hayek warned over 60 years ago. It is NOT the road to long-term growth and prosperity that is paved with government spending and debt but rather the road to serfdom!"

What the nation produces is being wasted through government spending especially since it is financing its spending through debt-- the government will have to borrow 50 cents for every dollar it spends. More and more wealth will have to go towards paying down the debt and paying the interest on the debt. This means less capital for the private sector to produce wealth and expand the economy. Each household now owes 516,348 dollars to the national debt compared to around 110,000 for non government expenses. The current policies being implemented by the government is leading to a less productive economy.

The current policies being implemented by the government-- higher taxes, increase government spending, and government involvement in businesses-- have been shown by history and reality to lead to a slow and sluggish economy and, if carried too far and left unchecked, economic collapse. The government has been consuming and using up the nations capital though deficit spending for a long time now and has accelerated this process rapidly in the past nine months.(This is happening on a global scale.) Without capital, unused material goods, production and economic activity is impossible. The government is bankrupting the nation and your kids and grand kids will have to pay all of this debt back by becoming, in effect, slaves to the state because most of what they earn will be going to the government.

This all means that the economy will be sluggish and there will be little or no growth and there will be inflation coming down the road, maybe double digits, until the government stop its over spending, cuts taxes and end its excessive involvement in the economy to stimulates economic growth. This is the only way to pay down all of this debt. This level of debt is staggering to comprehend, the size and scope of it acts as a screen to hide it from the American people, and the only way to nullify the effect of it is if the government gets out of the way of America's productivity. This is possibly leading to an economic collapse which is the catalysis that Hayek was talking about that leads to a dictator (Look at the economic conditions in Germany that lead to Hitler. The socialist set up shop. They ruin the economy through their policies. The country goes into social upheaval. A dictator comes along and promises to fix everything. Then the people choose and give great powers to one man.) America is a great and productive nation and America can recover and avoid a long period of economic malaise or, in the worst scenario, an economic disaster, history shows that the current conditions, if left unchanged, leads to the latter. Americans need to get educated about what is happening and demand that the nation change course.

Obama Nominates Racist for Supreme Court: Article #1

Sorry for the scary picture readers, but this woman is whom President Race/Gender/Class Hustler Hussein Obama has nominated to replace retiring justice Souter. Sonia Sotomayor, a 54 year old, childless, briefly married graduate of Princeton and Yale law school makes this super f'ing fantastic claim for her qualifications in a speech at UC Berkeley in 2001:
"Whether born from experience or inherent physiological or cultural differences, a possibility I abhor less or discount less than my colleague Judge Cedarbaum, our gender and national origins may and will make a difference in our judging. Justice O'Connor has often been cited as saying that a wise old man and wise old woman will reach the same conclusion in deciding cases. I am not so sure Justice O'Connor is the author of that line since Professor Resnik attributes that line to Supreme Court Justice Coyle. I am also not so sure that I agree with the statement. First, as Professor Martha Minnow has noted, there can never be a universal definition of wise. Second, I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life."
Yes, you read that right, Obama's choice for the Supreme Court flat out says her experience as a Latina woman makes her a better judge than a white male (question: what is White?). This Latina woman who has never had a family and graduated from the finest Ivy League schools in the land believes her sex and race make her better than you and more experienced in life. And our president believes the same thing. Yeah, that quote is from an article in NPR! Even they don't think she's so wise. El Presidente Empty Suit Socialist, remember, he's the first post-racial president!, nominates a racist Latina as his first choice to the Supreme Court. Is it any surprise that a congregant of Reverend Jeremiah Wright's church would make a choice like this? It shouldn't be. I don't feel like digging too much into this tonight. We'll go through her rulings in following posts, and note why this may not be such a bad thing after all for conservatives.

Government to own 70% of GM and over 50% of Chrysler.

I have been following what has been happening in the Auto industry. The government is basically taking over the auto industry through the Unions and doing away with the property rights of the secured lenders in the Chrysler case. I was reading 'Road Ahead; America's Creeping Revolution',pg 63, and the book showed how the socialist took over England mainly through unions. The same thing is happening now in America.
The main reason for the American Auto industry(AA) going bankrupt was the unions. They created a lot of unsustainable cost: job banks, paying people for not working, and health care and pensions etc--much like a socialist government. The unions were made possible by government law; without the support of the government unions would not be possible. Of course, the down turn in the economy had a big part in the AA being in the trouble they are in, but foreign Auto companies are not in the same level of trouble, so this is not the only reason for the AA being where they are.

The unions destroyed the AA. Then the government comes along and says they are too big to fail and they must be supported with tax payer money--let the free market work and let them go bankrupt.(All of this money was supposed to prevent the AA from going into bankruptcy but now they are going in to it anyways. The money was used by the government to put a foot in the door.) Once the AA accepts money from the government, the AA becomes controlled by the government. As it stands today the government will have a 70% and over 50% ownership stake in GM and Chrysler respectively and the unions will have a large ownership stake. The government will now indirectly own and control a major industry and will be telling the car companies what kinds of cars to make and what kind of cars we will drive through the CAFE standards.

Basically the government sidestep property rights of the secured lenders in the Chrysler case and favored the unions. Secured lenders, people who gave loans to the company, are guaranteed to get their money back when a company goes bankrupt from the hard assets that a company owns or they can have a large ownership stake in the company.(The link gives a better explanation) The unions gave loans to the Chrysler but their bonds, loans, were not secured, that means they are not guaranteed to get their money back when a company goes into bankruptcy. Well the government stepped in and did away with the rights of the secured lenders and now they are getting, in the case of the four banks holding 70 percent of Chrysler's $6.9 billion secured debt agreed to take $2 billion in cash. But the unions will be getting more of their money back and a larger ownership stake in the company while the secured lenders will be getting back something like 30 cents on the dollar and a much smaller ownership in the company. The secured lenders were going to sue the government but the White House threatened to ruin them if they persisted with the law suit. So here we have a thug President using his powers to side step the law and coerce people. This is dangerous. Look at the Russian revolution.

In my opinion and the way I see things, this is all part of the socialist and communist plan to take over America. If it is a plan or not, the end result is still the same: government ownership and control of the AA. People should be aware of what is happening to our capitalist economic system and the dangerous level of control that the government is gaining over America. If the government can do this to a big company what is to prevent them from doing the same thing to the individual? (The same thing is being done in the banking industry) Indeed, the government is using this crises to gain control over America and do "big things":
"Rule one: Never allow a crisis to go to waste. They are opportunities to do big things."
- Rahm Emmanuel(President Obama's chief of staff)

This Is Rock: Billy Joe: Love Child of Joe Strummer & Leonard Graves Philips

When I first heard Green Day, the first thing I thought of was the early punk group The Dickies, because Billy Joe sounded so much like their singer, Leonard Graves Philips. We all also know that Billy Joe gets his stage presence from Joe Strummer of The Clash. Two great people to draw from! Anyway, here's the proof in the pudding: The Dickies' great cover of The Moody Blues 'Nights in White Satin' from 1979 and The Clash, at the dawn of punk, Janie Jones in 1977. Judge for yourselves!

The Janie Jones recording is pretty crude, but you get the idea of the energy The Clash brought.

"America's November revolution and Obama's National security force

I read an interesting article from American Thinker.com. It draws parallels between what is happening now in America and what happened during the Russian revolution: the level of control that the government is gaining over the economic system and the whole nation. The article also pointed out President Obama's plans for a civilian national security force.

The article points out President Obama's plan and desire for a national security force. As stated during his campaign for the Presidency: "We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded." What does he mean by this? The article from worldnet daily has some interesting and funny videos, especially the Obama youth squad, about this and states that the bill H.R. 388 passed to increase the funding and size of AmeriCorps by billions of dollars. "AmeriCorps is a U.S. federal government program that was created under President Bill Clinton by the National and Community Service Trust Act of 1993." AmeriCorps and ACORN interact with each other. ACORN is the community activist group that Obama had dealings with and was a member of. The goal of the group's leadership is to bring about a socialist America by collapsing the economic system and having a socialist system rising out of the ruins. ACORN is a broad topic and it is interesting to note how the organization has become interwoven through many groups that want to bring about the bigger government agenda--the roots run deep. It is an interesting topic to look up and worth noting the group's goals and the fact that the President had dealings with them.

This could be the beginning of a large national security/volunteer force, similar to that of past nations with a big government. The volunteers will not be wearing uniforms and saluting some leader, as in the video above; but instead, they will be a huge base of people being setup, directed, lead, and educated by the government in an indirect manner. They will be ready to do the bidding of the government in the name of the collective good. In other words, the service won't be in the name of some leader, but the service will be in the name of the collective welfare. The service will not be necessarily required, but something that people will willingly volunteer their time to. To put it into perspective you need to look at what was happening during the Great Depression and the level of control that the government had and wanted to have over the country and the large public work projects that the government had people involved in; so, at this point, it is not as massive as what occurred then, but this could be laying the seeds of a civilian national security force that the government can use as an instrument to implement and maintain its control and influence over the people while not appearing to be working for the interests of the government but instead appear to be working for the people. The foundation for a system of control necessary for a big government is being quietly laid and being established in many areas of the fabric of our society. Just worth noting and keeping up on.

I have learned from my American government class textbook and lectures that this form of government and tyranny was foreseen by the founders, and they realized that a government would naturally increase its size and power as result of the flaws of human nature ; thus, leading to tyranny. This nature was well stated by Lord Acton, "Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely." Not some big plan or design necessarily. But certain special interest groups can help this form of government come about faster by promoting the programs, policies, and cultural changes that leads to its realization. The founders realized that freedom depends on the morality and diligence of the people.

Atlas Shrugs...A Continuing Series

Following up my Higher Taxes: Less Income post, the Wall Street Journal publishes an article showing exactly that happening in Maryland, where, after a large state tax hike on the rich, the number of millionaires filing tax returns shrank from 3,000 last year to 2,000 this year, and the tax income received from millionaires in Maryland shrank by $100,000,000! They do say that probably some of that is due to the recession. It would be interesting to nail down how much is due to that. Their tax analysts expected the state to make ~$100,000,000 more, and ended up with that much less. Hey, El Presidente Empty Suit Socialist! Pay attention!!!

North Korean Nuke Test

Since I know nothing about the current nominee for the Supreme Court, I will speak on something I feel confident about and also something which surprised me:  the N. Korean atomic test.

I think this is so wide spread in the news, no links are necessary.

Anyway, I think North Korea is going to add an interesting National Security threat for the administration.  To begin with, they've already cowered before when North Korea launched their first missile earlier in April and now we've seen an increased threat (and after South Korea joined Bush's Proliferation Security Initiative, increased their bellicose rhetoric).  It's clear that this is all posturing for alms.  But I think there's a unique opportunity here.  North Korea's test seems to be in defiance in the face of their traditional allies (Russia/China) and while its likely that the Security Council won't come up with anything policy wise that will disable the North Korean security program, what's important is that I think it gives the administration an opportunity to stand opposed to the Bush administration and NOT give N.Korea energy aid with international support (or at least, without opposition from key actors).

We can't expect a military strike to take out N. Korean facilities, but we can strengthen the noose around the North Koreans by further isolating them.  And hopefully, if another Tae-Po-Dong is launched, the Messiah will have the gall to shoot it down and show the utter impotence of the North Korean regime.

What Really Grinds My Gears

You wanna know what really grinds my gears?

I think I told this story to dad and Jeff, but I'll say it again for all the readers out there.

I know a recieving clerk at a Fred Meyers whos name is Dave. He is a good man. He spent a tour in Vietnem as a soldier in the infantry. He has done what this country has asked of him and I respect him. He tells me about his daughter and her boyfriend. "My daughter and her boyfriend are both on unemployment. Both of them have car payments and rent out an apartment. I asked her if she was gonna get a job and she said they were gonna take the summer off. They'll try to get jobs in september." Dave said.

Two weeks later on a saturday I spent a half hour puking over the toilet at one of my safeways on my route. It happened to be three in the morning and I had the stomach flu. I'll bet Dave's daughter and her nasty fucking boyfriend were either passed out or still drinking from a long and eventful friday night. I can't stand free loaders.

I ended up working 13 hours that day. You know they say that a third of every work day goes to taxes. I hope you enjoy, free loaders! No big deal!

Environmentalism as a vehicle to carry communism and its' agenda into America.

I have a lot of broad topics I want to cover. I will start with something short.

Communism and socialism is and has been trying to creep into America since the time of The Great Depression. The book by John T. Flynn 'The Road Ahead; America's creeping revolution' illustrates this point and gives examples. (I have yet to read this book.) The American Left was enamored with the Soviet Revolution and many of the ideals and concepts of socialism and communism. They realized America would never accept a complete revolution or the ideals of communism. So they decided to infiltrate the two big political parties in America, and to bring about the socialist ideals by slow gradual means, including the environmental movement(I will use the abbreviation EM), look at how socialism crept into Britain. The EM movement is being used as a disguise and an excuse to increase the size and power and reach of the government. It is a manufactured crisis used to rally people for a common cause and a crisis used to scare people into accepting more government.

I believe Environmentalism is one of the vehicles that Communism is using to achieve the goal of a communistic America. Why do I say this? I am using Patrick Moore's one of the the founders of Greenpeace, a well know environmental group, statement and observations about the movement he helped to found and the background of some of the prominent members of the movement who are in position of power. Also, I notice that the EM is being used as an manufactured crisis to get people to accept bigger government. Everything used to combat "Climate Change" leads to bigger government. Another point, the leader of the Communist Party USA stated that the election of President Obama was an opportunity enact economic reforms to include "combating" global warming. Communism is being transported into America by the EM.

Patrick Moore was an early founder and member of the well know environmental group Greenpeace. He left Greenpeace and founded his own environmental group called Greenspirit. He left Greenpeace because he believed the EM including Greenpeace had been taken over by hard left radicals who were not concerned for the environment or science. His own words: "The once politically centrist, science-based vision of environmentalism has been largely replaced with extremist rhetoric. Science and logic have been abandoned and the movement is often used to promote other causes such as class struggle and anti-corporatism. The public is left trying to figure out what is reasonable and what is not." He also stated about who moved into the movement(slithered into): "Surprisingly enough the second event that caused the environmental movement to veer to the left was the fall of the Berlin Wall. Suddenly the international peace movement had a lot less to do. Pro-Soviet groups in the West were discredited. Many of their members moved into the environmental movement bringing with them their Eco-Marxism and pro-Sandinista sentiments." Just like the peace movement was not about peace, but about defeating America during the Cold War; the EM is not about the environment; but, instead, about bringing Communism to America. Sure there were some hippies that truly believed in the beliefs of the peace movement, like Jane Fonda, but I like the term 'Useful Idiots', coined by Vladimir Lenin, to describe these people. So according the the observation of Patrick Moore the Pro-Soviet, communist, groups took over the movement. http://www.greenspirit.com/key_issues/the_log.cfm?booknum=12&page=3

I am sure you have heard of President Obama's climate czarina-- czar that reminds me of Russia-- Carol Browner. She was a member of the Socialist group Socialist International, the umbrella group for 170 "social democratic, socialist and labor parties" in 55 countries. She is helping to push through Cap and Trade, another topic, and the environmental agenda. A socialist is in a position of power in the American government. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,479935,00.html

Van Jones is an environmentalist appointed to advise the White House on environmental issues and has interesting ties to communism. He was a member of 'Storm' a group who worked with know communist. "T
he leftist blog Machete 48 identifies STORM's influences as "third-worldist Marxism (and an often vulgar Maoism)." His view on environmental activism: "Jones, formerly a self-described "rowdy black nationalist," boasted in a 2005 interview that his environmental activism was a means to fight for racial and class "justice."(Sounds reminiscence of communism) Well his Communist group fell apart so he just moved, slithered, into environmentalism. A communist is advising the White House on environmental issues. http://worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=94771

A good youtube video to illustrate the point of "Climate Change" being used as an excuse to rally the people for a common cause in favor of more government is Obama's road to serfdom. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRKdJsaKDzw&feature=related. Notice at the beginning of President Obama's speech how he uses "Climate Change" as a rally point for the world to unite for a common purpose. The speech is sounds to me like it is coming from a collectivist.

The leader of the Communist Party USA stated that with Obama in the White house it is a "dream come true" because it will allow economic and other reforms to take place that will advance the communist agenda here in America. One of the reforms he listed on his list of things that can be achieved with Obama in office included addressing global warming: "Isn't it possible in the post-Bush era to launch a vigorous attack on global warming and create millions of green jobs in manufacturing and elsewhere?" So here we have the leader of the Communist party stating that global warming in on his agenda. He doesn't care about the enviroment; he only cares about progressing the communist agenda. The EM is being used as a smoke screen to bring about communism in America. http://worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=99104

I do not think all environmentalist are communist. I do believe there is a need for common sense environmental regulations. I don't think most supporters of the EM realize how their movement is being used to expand government. The 'Useful Idiots' are giving voice to a movement, just like the peace movement, that is bringing communism into America. I hope they look more closely at their movement and look at one of its' unstated goals--a communist America. We must look at what the policies they are pushing for will lead to. "Don't bother to examine a folly—ask yourself only what it accomplishes. I want to point out how the EM is being used to promote bigger government and spread the Communist agenda in America.-- All in the name of preventing a non existent crisis. It is now accepted that the Earth is actually going through a cooling phase. Why did the climates of Mars Jupiter, Saturn warm at the same time Earth did? Maybe solar activity. http://www.livescience.com/environment/070312_solarsys_warming.html. Another debate.

Devil Comes Down To Georgia: Update

Finally before I leave, how 'bout a look at where our past observations have gone? We don't shy away from facts at Robinson Talking Points. I was raving like World War V was upon us in Devil Comes Down To Georgia (for ref: WWIII = Cold War, WWIV = War Against Militant Islam). Who was going to blink in early May? Clearly the West, who didn't have a chance against a determined Putin. Well, what has been happening? The US press has ignored it completely. The London Telegraph has an article by a Russian writer who claims both sides have ratcheted up tension in advance of the long-scheduled, small-scale NATO exercise, but that Russia is making a big deal of it as an excuse to bulk up their troops in Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Well, ominous, but no WWV.

In searching for more stories, I stumbled on an Estonian paper Eesti Elu or 'Estonian Life', that has a good, honest article on it. Looks like the exercise is carrying on but WWV isn't happening, but the Russians are still increasing their troops in the area.

Another article discussed a topic I find interesting but never see talked about: the status of the city of Kaliningrad, Russia, or what was formerly known as Koenigsberg, Prussia. This 'exclave' of Russia is sandwiched between Poland and Lithuania on the Baltic coast. It used to be the capital of Prussia, and was the heartland of the German military class, the Junkers, that were the driving force in unifiying Germany. I always wondered why Kaliningrad didn't break away from Russia at the end of the cold war, but never heard anything about it. Well, this article at least discusses the fact that changing the name back to Koenigsberg is being debated, which is a small first step towards independence. Evidently the Russians have kept this exclave stocked full of troops, but now they can't afford to keep them there anymore, and...what a coincidence...we see an effort to change the name of the exclave now that the Russian troops are leaving.

Higher Taxes = Less Income

Wall Street Journal, bringin' the facts to show that raising taxes in a particular state does not result in that state becoming more prosperous. This is important info that all of us should have in the reference library in our heads. We all know that higher taxes causes capital flight, less jobs, and ultimately lower tax income for states. But where's the proof? Here it is to throw down with in your next argument with a lib.

Back Talk: On Fire

I'm leaving 'til next Tuesday, so I'm going to leave you guys with a flurry of small posts. First off, just a blog link: Professor Engram from Back Talk on the sidebar has a couple of great posts. He's a registered Democrat, though has drifted rightwards. He often cuts Obama a break. In Emote Less Listen More, he praises Obama's recent foreign policy decisions, in that Obama is breaking his campaign promises and doing more or less what the evil Rethuglican Bushitler did and the opposite of what Obama said he would do on the campaign trail. Good for Obama now regarding foreign policy at this point. Bad for Obama lying in our faces on the campaign trail, and where's the media critical of this Fascist Warmonger ala Bush? Engram counts the ways and provides links to Obama's broken promises (and correct foreign policy decisions) regarding: Rendition, Indefinite Detention, Military Tribunals, Warrentless Wiretapping, Pakistan, and Iraq. Again, for libs, it's as much about who's saying something as it is what's being said. Evil under Bush, quietly correct under Obama. Screw them and their hypocricy.

In another article, Engram says "Conservatives and Liberals need each other" Well, I'm not convinced, outside of what Robinson Talking Points clearly shows: that a healthy, vigorous, honest discussion of policies is a good thing no matter who is in power.

This is Rock #3

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IcEMdmASxc&feature=related

I have to involve Green Day in the This Is Rock topics.
I remember growing up at the house on Towle and building my collection of tapes. I loved to listen to them on my head phones and rock out. Up until third or fourth grade I only had Beatles, Rolling Stones, and old Aerosmith(same old song and dance from 72 i think). Most of these tapes were blessed upon me by Father Robinson. I bought Green Day Dookie with my own money and it was the first album I had ever purchased on my own developed taste for music. This album helped shape my interest in music and holds a special spot in my heart. They are another band that has gone the way of the hippie though. But they rocked the early nineties.

Posting

I will have to figure out how this works. Thanks for the add. I will try to bring some up some interesting postings along with interesting observations.

Legalize it! Don't criticize it!

And now for something completely different.

I had an interesting conversation the other day with Father Robinson and Mother Robinson. LEGALIZING MARIJUANA. The devils serum.

Should it be legalized? Should it be banned? Is it too big? Is it too small?
I think that we need to legalize it. It burdens our governments budget. We send too many people to jail for getting high and staring at flowers and colorful movies. Are they really a threat to society? People get killed in the streets over pot deals strictly cause its illegal. You don't see people getting shot over cigarettes do you? No one in the history of man kind has ever died from an over dose of marijuana, its hemp can be used for agricultural purposes, and instead of getting angry when you're drunk, you get relaxed when you're high. I just don't see how you can justify banning a substance that is really not that harmful. Alcohol kills more people from over doses, it kills more people from drunk driving, and it makes people angry(sometimes) and they go off and do something they'll regret. I think that the only reason alcohol is acceptable is that it has been engrained in the fabric of our society since before Jesus. If Jesus smoked a blunt at the last supper we would all be getting high at church. I bet you could find a Mayan God getting stoned. Maybe we should follow him?

I realize that we don't want a bunch of drunks and stoned people running around in the streets. Having drunks running around already is enough. But Bud D made a good point. He said that the government doesn't even need to ban it because almost all employers forbid it anyway. For instance, if I get one little scratch on my work truck I will get sent to a hospital for a urine analysis. I've seen them do it to employees within one hour of the accident. Frito Lay don't mess around. They want to pin the blame on someone else for not following regulations. I don't blame them. This regulation sure as hell stops me from doing it.

So with that being said, if the government legalized it, we would have the same successful people doing their jobs and not smoking, and the same losers not working and getting stoned. The only thing that would change is the jails would loosen up, and more things to tax(things that us successful people don't purchase anyway). Thus, the governments budget would increase.

The Recent CIA torturing

I don't have any news articles to cite or links to add, but I think this is a good topic to discuss.

I couldn't believe Pelosi for one second. I saw her press conference on Fox and every word that came out of her mouth seemed like a lie. She studdered almost the whole way through. I think just about everyone that saw the speech could smell a lie on her breath. Its one thing that she says the CIA "mis lead her" but she is obviously now misleading America. She is distorting the truth to make Americans hate our security forces.
I can't stand how these liberal shit stains are making Americans hate America and feel sorry for our enemies. Melkor said it best when he texted me "the only way to measure if the torturings were justifiable was how many Jihadists died because of them." Correct me if I'm wrong Melkor, but that was what I got from it.
Piss on these cowards for blaming our CIA agents of doing something wrong. We should have done a lot worse to those bastards, never forget 9/11.

This Is Rock: Songs That Rock But The Lyrics Disgust You

From Melkor & M Dick's comments in the last post. This is a problem for the Right Side of the Robinson Clan. Rockers All, how do we justify being fans of bands that we probably strongly disagree with politically? How do we headbang when we "disagree sir with what you are saying". In the comments, list songs that you love that have lyrics you hate. Tell us why they rock and why you hate the lyrics and how you deal with the dychotomy.

I'll do today's 'This Is Rock' contribution to kick it off: Black Sabbath playing War Pigs in Paris in 1970: The Power of Black Sabbath! Bill Ward's aggressive, thundering drums. Gosh, I could watch him play for hours, but not in a gay way. Ozzy's uhm, soaring, uhm vocals. Guitarist Tony Iommi doesn't solo well, but came up with the fantastic riffs that all metal evolved from. Geezer Butler writes the cool lyrics and the scary thundering music and is a fun bassist to watch. But Geezer, what's this hippy shit about Generals gathered in their masses? Well, those of us that served our country know that there are good and bad generals just like everybody, but generally, they wish good not ill for our country and the world. I get past it by thinking Ozzy's vocals are great, the words are fun comic strip movie stuff even if I disagree with them, and the music f'n RAWKS! Admittedly, this disagreement is mild stuff. Easy to get past these lyrics. I'll try to think of a tougher one to discuss in the Comments.

Notice how Ozzy changes most of the lyrics, but it still works. Watch closely for the cool Ozzy dance throughout the song.

This is Rock #2

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MQqZ_0tyuo

I couldn't do the link like Bud d did. But this is definitely rock. Nofx is one of my favorite bands of all time and definitely my favorite punk band. I had to have one of their earlier videos so I didn't get their political mush mush.

Two of My Favorite Topics in One Great Article!

Not really. Mostly one of my favorite topics (Sarah Palin) and a lucky association to another (Old English- Beowulf in particular):

The Libs are going to flip over this: OMG!, the NRA is giving her a SEMI-AUTOMATIC ASSAULT WEAPON!!1!!11 And unlike most libs, she will know how to use it. Dangerous indeed! Probably puts her on the DHS Right Wing Terrorist list as a sitting governor. They are giving her an AR-15 which shoots .50 cal 'Beowulf' rounds. Well, since I'm as clueless as a lib when it comes to firearms, I don't know why they call it a 'Beowulf' round. But, I did look it up in 'Janes Armaments' and they say that the round is made to deliver maximum power at short range. I guess to stop bears. Not that Sarah has any problem with that. As Don Surber notes in the linked article :
It is the 50th anniversary of Alaskan statehood this year. Hawai’i, too but I don’t think anyone will be giving a gun to Hawai’i’s most famous native son.

Just in case you don't know, he's referring to our President, who just possibly was born in Hawaii (but no one knows for sure). And he wouldn't have any idea what to do with the Beowulf round either.

Gotten from Ace who linked to Surber.

Predator Attacks in Pakistan Does More Harm Than Good

It appears that Petraeus' insurgency advisor expresses similar concerns as I have over attacks inside of Pakistan.  The commentary confuses me however, as the author tends to agree with Kilcullen (who's warnings dad posted earlier) over the negative impacts the strikes have for the Pakistani government but concludes by saying we should do things the old fashion way (face to face killing)?  Stupid.  "Face to Face killing" (humans in planes, ground troops, etc) will do nothing to quell the outrage the Pakistani people have over the violation of their sovereignty and civilian deaths.  I don't think the benefit of honor in tribal eyes is worth the blatant escalation of military operations in Pakistan, something that will surely plunge it into chaos.

I think the only military operation that we should keep on the table in Pakistan is to destroy Pakistan's nuclear arsenal if the country were to fall into chaos.  But I've already beat this drum.

What people need to realize is that Pakistan is the Center of Gravity, not the Talibani leadership.  We need to focus our planning on strengthening their government and getting the people to become not necessarily pro-US, but anti-Taliban.  If we can not develop a coherent strategy to do this (and by coherent I mean, we cannot simultaneously give them guns to support them, but then over rule their protests by bombing their country) then we will not be able to win the war on terrorism.

This Is Rock, Post #1

I was thinking a non-political recurring post could be maybe weekly postings of videos of live music, with a brief explanation of why 'This Is Rock'. Someone else post next week. Or I will again.

An awesome riff and Michael Schenker's great leads make the song "Rock Bottom" a classic, but,..., I'm swooning over the tight pants and shirtless, slim boys in their high-heeled shoes. UFO is here showing what '70's rock was all about.
