The video was cool. I will have to watch it again to fully understand it.
Keynes was for government spending and is what we would consider a modern day liberal. It is funny that the video shows him dancing with some women since Keynes was an open homosexual. Keynes' book _The economic Consequences of the Peace_ "contributed indirectly and in several ways to the future war[WW2] Keynes himself was so anxious to avert".(Johson's _Modern Times_, 36) Friedrich Hayek is a liberal in the classical sense, limited government. He did not consider himself a conservative.
_The Constitution of Liberty_ by Hayek is a must read for anyone who believes in limited government. It explains why and how government involvement in economic and other affairs eventually lead to tyranny and how the government's good intentions led to tyranny: Social Security, Health Insurance, Education, and economic affairs to name a few. They all work in concert to led to eventual government control over every aspect of a nation.[This book is why I am not too optimistic about the future of freedom here in America.)
I am taking Macro economic and I have a conservative instructor for a change. How do you get a free capitalist society to accept socialism and communism? Obviously a free people won't knowingly choose such a system. So you bring it about under the disguise of intelligent democratic planning and under the guise of good intentions and manipulating people with words.
That is pretty cool. However, These People talk so fast that I can't keep up. I think the idle observer (as opposed to the well-informed RTP reader) would have trouble determining who won that Rap-competition (I'm sure you yutes have a term for that).
Wow. That was cool. I only understood about one tenth of it but I think it is cool anyway.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me want to learn more about economics.

ReplyDeleteJeff, another book on my to-read list.
