Commentary from Berlin on the Republican Primary

I think this pundit has a good handle on the state of the Republican primaries:

Click on the YouTube button to see it on big screen.  It's not funny unless you can read the subtitles.  Hitler bags on the Tea Party too much, but otherwise, spot on.

  1. Louisiana First State to Militarize?

“I have called on the Governor to bring in the National Guard,” said Badon, asserting that residents were “more comfortable” after seeing the Guard patrol the streets in 2005 during Hurricane Katrina.

“We are at war and when you’re at war, you have to bring in soldiers,” said Badon, describing the situation as “urban warfare,” and complaining about people who own guns.

  2. Why doesnt the Hitler video mention Ron Paul?

KP, I checked your website. I don't think the "militarize" issue is a big deal. The mayor is asking for some troops to get ready for Super Bowl and Mardi Gras. No big deal.

I did, however, find the video on people who got their weapons confiscated by the Guard to be interesting and scary. To be honest, I don't know what I'd do if my CO ordered me to violate people's rights like that. I might lay down my weapon and refuse.

  3. I don't really like any of the candidates. I somewhat liked Cain, but he either did something wrong with those women or he didn't have the guts to stay in. If it were left up to people that put their family and feelings ahead of the country then there would be no America. Romeny is no better than Obama in terms of the direction they will take America. I won't vote for Romney. Gingrich is a big government guy, but I like some of what he says. Christie is a sellout and a Romeny supporter. It looks like Americans really don't have a real choice for the direction this nation is headed this election. (Check out how that Tea Party republican Nov 2010 stopped big governement in its tracks. I say this with sarcasm. What a joke.) I actually would almost love to see Obama relected along with a Democract controlled congress. That way we can reach bottom as opposed of a slow slide down.

This years choice for president reminds me of a passage in Tocquiville's Democracy In America. http://xroads.virginia.edu/~HYPER/DETOC/ch4_06.htm

  4. If you stay in the Guard long enough, you will be patrolling the streets of America or dealing with social unrest.
