Mother Nature and The Man-Made Global Warming Lie.

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2010/04/photogalleries/100402-iceland-volcano-tourism-pictures/#iceland-volcano-tourism-crowds-bluff_18082_600x450.jpg

Maybe you have been watching the news and are aware of the fact that a volcano in Iceland is spueing massive amounts of volcano ash and an overall dark cloud over some of Europe disrupting air travel. At one point, the volcano was throwing seven hundred and fifty tons of material into the atmosphere per SECOND. I am no scientist, but I believe that this ash has the same effect on the atmosphere that man's greenhouse gas emissions have. I do know in that distance past massive eruptions has changed the climate of the planet by blocking the sun etc. There is no way what man can do in terms of putting pollution or greenhouse gases can compare with what nature can do. I read a news article stating that the already struggling airlines are loosing around two hundred million dollars a day. I also read that this is disrupting world trade to some extent. And according to this article the eruptions could just be starting, "For all the worldwide chaos that Iceland's volcano has already created, it may just be the opening act." How does this matter to you? Well, it puts things into perspective. The world is somewhat on edge due to financial crises and the war on terror just to name a few. All it would take is a push from nature to send the world closer to the edge. This shows how little man really controls what is going on and how that nature is really in control. This also shows that when it comes to pumping pollutions or material into the atmosphere, man can not compare to nature.

This also matters because the Global Warming lie is BACK, and just in time for the a new push by Congress to enact its cap and trade legislation, I mean cap and tax and take over of the private sector.
An environmental coalition publicized a new U.S. draft report on climate change on Monday, one week before the expected unveiling of a compromise U.S. Senate bill that aims to curb greenhouse gas emissions.[...]The report, a draft of the Fifth U.S. Climate Action Report that will be sent to the United Nations, says bluntly: 'Global warming is unequivocal and primarily human-induced ... Global temperature has increased over the past 50 years. This observed increase is due primarily to human-induced emissions of heat-trapping gases.'
AGW has already been discredited by hacked emails of the scientist promoting this lie, see earlier post connected with the labels below. The truth can not get in the way of promoting bigger government. The whole environmentalism movement is about the overthrow of the private sector and is being used by governments of the world to increase their power. This whole belief that man is causing the climate to change is also belied by the recent volcanic eruptions in Iceland that is pumping massive amounts of ash into the atmosphere that is far greater than anything man can do. This shows that these people who believe that man can actually have any major and lasting impact on the environment are arrogant and naive--just look at the dinosaurs and past geological upheavals. Man is still very small and insignificant in the bigger cosmic picture.

  1. I dont see how that volcano can be so dangerous and disruptive. There are tourists and sightseers at the crater in the picture.

  2. Here are some cool pics of the volcano http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2010/04/more_from_eyjafjallajokull.html

If you actually read the links and the post you would see how the volcano poses a threat--although very minor and temporary--to air travel and world trade.

The point was to show how that an act of nature can really influence the world affairs: the economy, social order etc. And how that volcanoes have the potential to pollute the atmosphere far more than man does.

If you want to see what is up with the latest push to take over the private sector by the government led by Obama is then check out these links if not then just know that the financial reform is about taking over the private sector--I could just be lying it could really be good.

  3. I've heard, but have not researched, that this one volcanic eruption threw out more CO2 into the atmosphere than the totality of that produced by Man. On the other hand, it also threw out a lot of ash that acts to block sunlight, so someone could argue that the two act to block each other out. The point is still good that Jeff makes that this highlights Man's insignificance in the global climate picture. Also, as stated in the past articles Jeff mentions in RTP&GG, CO2 has not been proven to effect global temperatures. There is some correlation between levels of CO2 in the atmosphere and temperature, but the correlation is more towards CO2 following temperature rather than temperature following CO2.

Also, they say that the airlines have lost more money because of this eruption than everything they lost because of 9/11.

  4. I was just poking fun at the picture because there are people at the crater and this is supposed to be so magnificent.

  5. I checked out those pictures. They are pretty bad ass.

I still think this volcano is no match to the sandstorms of CKV.

  6. I don't know of any good websites that are related to science. I do remember hearing or watching on the discovery channel of history channel that past volcanic eruptions have influenced the climate. I know that there are super volcano such as Yellowstone National park. I am sure if that exploded it would affect the climate. But I do know that man's ability to change the climate is very minuscule compared to nature's.

I read that the volcano has boosted tourism to Iceland. I don't see how with the restrictions on air travel.

One of the links above point to how the volcano has disrupted world trade to some extent. The airlines were already hurting before the eruption. The point about airlines loosing money makes the point that with the world economy being near the edge it would not take much such as an act of terrorism or some major natural disaster to push it closer or send it over the edge. It would be an interesting study to see how natural changes or disasters has affected human history.

  7. I need to way back off my statement above: According to the blog Watts Up With That, quoting the (very liberal) British paper The Guardian "Experts said on Monday that the volcano in Iceland is emitting 150,000 to 300,000 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) per day, a figure comparable to emissions released from a small industrial nation"
The Guardian claims that the grounded flights resulted in a reduction of 206,465 tons/day, so the volcano belches out roughly what is saved in grounded aircraft flights. If those numbers are OK with Watts Up With That, they're OK with me.

  8. From Watts Up With That link in the story quoted above, "On a country-by-country basis, the emissions from the volcano would be placed 47th to 75th in the world table of emitters if based on a yearlong output. The data was compiled by the World Resources Institute (WRI), which tracks environmental and sustainable development. "

"They[the guardian] failed to consider that the eruption has been going on for more than a month, while the flight ban has lasted only six days. Total volcano emissions actually dwarf the savings from the aircraft."

"Furthermore, we know that plants, soil and the oceans generate 30 times as much CO2 as all fossil fuel burning combined. That is 200,000,000,000 tons of CO2 per year from natural sources, compared with The Guardian’s inaccurate claim of 2,800,000 tons in savings from aircraft grounded. In other words, even their exaggerated claimed savings are less than 0.0014% of all natural emissions of CO2."

From what I gathered from this source volcanoes do not emit more carbon dioxide than man does, but nature as a whole emits more than 30 times the amount of CO2 than the burning of fossil fuels does. I would like a better source. These seem to contradict each other.
