The Science is Settled!

Even the super hyper Climate Warming partisans at The Economist finally note what people with brains have noticed for many years now: Climate is not warming.  In fact, every single climate model that has been used to prove Global Warming, and justify massive governmental intrusion and taxation in our lives (mostly through the Green Power initiatives) has been proven grossly wrong.  And, as you may expect with people putting an agenda before the science - they all err in exactly the same way - overestimating climate warming.  Looking at the graph, and understanding a limited amount of statistics, you can see how horribly bad the predictions are.  Even though we have continued to fill our atmosphere with more and more killer Carbon Dioxide, the temperatures refuse to budge.  The studies were mostly made in the late 90's and the data, when not skewed by the scamsters, refuses to track the predictions.

The point isn't that global climate doesn't change.  Of course it does and always has.  The point is that the big hype of pushing man's increasing production of carbon dioxide as the true environmental killer has been shown to be completely without foundation in fact.  Which means all our money-wasting initiatives to create less carbon dioxide have been done without an ounce of real-world justification:  all the shutting down of coal plants, development of expensive 'renewable' electrical generation plants, hybrid and electric cars, and every other effort to reduce our material wealth via the global warming boogeyman is money and life-alteration is just money sucked out of our pockets and into the pockets of scamsters
It's very ironic that in the late '90's, when all the studies were published showing global temperatures going through the roof, Gaia decided to play a joke on the scammers and flatline the temperatures.

I'm sure another scam will come along soon to replace Global Warming.  Global Climate Change!  It will be too easy to mock them if they turn back to the Global Cooling of the '70's.   Too many of us remember when they tried that the first time.

But just remember, our God-King Obama, Al Gore, and all our betters, who of course have degrees from Ivy League schools, know better than we do.  So, be sure to listen to them when they try this again.  And of course this current scam is still -practically speaking- going full-speed ahead, as carbon caps are still in effect for the power industry, and you still are paying higher and higher power bills etc, etc.

Global Warming - "It's Dead for the Foreseeable Future"

Yay!!!  The last nail in the Global Warming Scam is hammered home
The closing this week of the Chicago Climate Exchange, which was envisioned to be the key player in the trillion-dollar "cap and trade" market, was the final nail in the coffin of the Obama administration's effort to pass the controversial program meant to combat global warming.
This Carbon trading exchange is a scam that Al Gore was in on the ground floor. To see it fall warms the cockles of my Global Cooling chilled heart.
"When those that voted for the measure in 2009 went home on July 4th after the vote, they met widespread outrage among their constituents," said Nick Loris, an analyst with Heritage Foundation. Conservatives renamed the idea "cap and tax," and they began an assault on the program.

In the last week, following the Nov. 2 Republican takeover of the House of Representatives, the slide became an avalanche. Investors in CCX, including Sandor and former Vice President Al Gore, sold the exchange to a company involved in commodities trading.
Don't cry for the perpetrators, the brains behind it is $90 million richer, and a chief backer is president of the United States:
The Exchange was the brainchild of Richard Sandor, an economist and professor at Northwestern University, and it was modeled after a successful program that was launched in 1990 and helped control acid rain in the Midwest. It was initially funded by a $1.1 million grant from the Joyce Foundation of Chicago, and President Obama was a board member at the time.
It doesn't say how much Al Gore made out of it, but my guess is he's not hurting.

It's bad form to brag and gloat and say "I told you so", but I've been harping on this scam since 2005, in the face of hipsters, leftists, and concerned Conservatives even, so it feels very good to me. Excuse me, I'm going to bask in the glow of shattered statists' dreams for a while.

Mother Nature and The Man-Made Global Warming Lie.

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2010/04/photogalleries/100402-iceland-volcano-tourism-pictures/#iceland-volcano-tourism-crowds-bluff_18082_600x450.jpg

Maybe you have been watching the news and are aware of the fact that a volcano in Iceland is spueing massive amounts of volcano ash and an overall dark cloud over some of Europe disrupting air travel. At one point, the volcano was throwing seven hundred and fifty tons of material into the atmosphere per SECOND. I am no scientist, but I believe that this ash has the same effect on the atmosphere that man's greenhouse gas emissions have. I do know in that distance past massive eruptions has changed the climate of the planet by blocking the sun etc. There is no way what man can do in terms of putting pollution or greenhouse gases can compare with what nature can do. I read a news article stating that the already struggling airlines are loosing around two hundred million dollars a day. I also read that this is disrupting world trade to some extent. And according to this article the eruptions could just be starting, "For all the worldwide chaos that Iceland's volcano has already created, it may just be the opening act." How does this matter to you? Well, it puts things into perspective. The world is somewhat on edge due to financial crises and the war on terror just to name a few. All it would take is a push from nature to send the world closer to the edge. This shows how little man really controls what is going on and how that nature is really in control. This also shows that when it comes to pumping pollutions or material into the atmosphere, man can not compare to nature.

This also matters because the Global Warming lie is BACK, and just in time for the a new push by Congress to enact its cap and trade legislation, I mean cap and tax and take over of the private sector.
An environmental coalition publicized a new U.S. draft report on climate change on Monday, one week before the expected unveiling of a compromise U.S. Senate bill that aims to curb greenhouse gas emissions.[...]The report, a draft of the Fifth U.S. Climate Action Report that will be sent to the United Nations, says bluntly: 'Global warming is unequivocal and primarily human-induced ... Global temperature has increased over the past 50 years. This observed increase is due primarily to human-induced emissions of heat-trapping gases.'
AGW has already been discredited by hacked emails of the scientist promoting this lie, see earlier post connected with the labels below. The truth can not get in the way of promoting bigger government. The whole environmentalism movement is about the overthrow of the private sector and is being used by governments of the world to increase their power. This whole belief that man is causing the climate to change is also belied by the recent volcanic eruptions in Iceland that is pumping massive amounts of ash into the atmosphere that is far greater than anything man can do. This shows that these people who believe that man can actually have any major and lasting impact on the environment are arrogant and naive--just look at the dinosaurs and past geological upheavals. Man is still very small and insignificant in the bigger cosmic picture.

Who's Going to Pay for Climate Change?

Just saw this piece on my NYTimes app, couldn't wait to get on a computer and talk about it.

First off, I was hoping that China would be as ever non-committal about climate change as they have in the past. This has always been the most effective politically charged attacks against climate change "why should we hold ourselves back as China marches ahead," but this announcement will probably lead the administration to charge forward to Coopenhagen pressing harder for some type of concrete action to reward his environmental-hippy allies. This news might be enough for the administration to think it has the political capital necessary to deflect the current Email debacle.

(But I think the method of making spending for the environment relative to increase in GDP as novel. We should incorporate it domestically for actual environmental programs like Forest Service, Parks, Endangered Spieces protection, fish conservation efforts, etc).

What I've become more concerned with, besides simple Cap-and Trade, is the growing insistence by countries that the West should pay for most of the tab. Brazil has made it's own version of Cap & Trade contigent on foreign funding (slahs and burn deforestation accounting for 75% of it's emissions) China has now come out and said that it won't allow anyone to inspect their compliance with the summit unless it is for efforts that have received foreign funding. Brazil and China represent the two of the largest and most powerful booming economies. It only makes sense for them to want any BS wasteful climate change spending to be done by those eggheads that are foolish to shell it out. While I doubt anything to emerge from the climate summit will be the new large evil international government that many here worry about (if you're worried about this, you should behold the beast of Babylon that emerged from the Montreal Pact, the most successful international environmental pact). I'm worried about the prospect that our Welfare Statist president is going to waste billions of dollars in foreign countries (most importantly China), who don't deserve one god damned cent.

Fortunately, there's good signs this BS is already proving too difficult to maintain. The Aussies are already falling apart over this and shows the consequence of trying to shove environmental programs without working with economic interests.

Healthcare is being picked away over it's run-away spending. if Obama commits to anything in Coopenhagen that further adds to wasteful spending that Washington doesn't have; than we can expect his political support to plummit faster and this summit to be one of the first things to be scrapped under Republican leadership. Maybe a treaty will languish in the Senate long enough for us to pick up a few more seats and ensure it's defeat during the ratification process.

Good Summary of the AGW Scam and Implications

The American Thinker has been all over this story.  At the link is a good summary of where we are at this moment.  It describes the problem with the source data (from the AGW alarmists' point of view), the programming used to mask the problems with the data, and who has used these studies to base their 'we're all gonna die' hysterics.

A couple of summary paragraphs:
Clamoring alarmists can and will spin this until they're dizzy. The ever-clueless mainstream media can and will ignore this until it's forced upon them as front-page news, and then most will join the alarmists on the denial merry-go-round.

But here's what’s undeniable: If a divergence exists between measured temperatures and those derived from dendrochronological data (Bud-D: tree-ring data) after (circa) 1960, then discarding only the post-1960 figures is disingenuous, to say the least. The very existence of a divergence betrays a potential serious flaw in the process by which temperatures are reconstructed from tree-ring density. If it's bogus beyond a set threshold, then any honest man of science would instinctively question its integrity prior to that boundary.  And only the lowliest would apply a hack in order to produce a desired result. (Bud-D comment: The scientists are saying that the rules that justified their use of tree-ring data prior to 1960 can be thrown out for the post-1960 period and recorded temperatures used instead. This is similar to Creationists saying, "sure carbon-dating works until 6000 BC, but that's when God changed the rules of physics". The scientists are acting exactly like strict Bible literalist priests here).

And to do so without declaring as such in a footnote on every chart in every report in every study in every book in every classroom on every website that such a corrupt process is relied upon is not just a crime against science, it’s a crime against mankind.(bold Bud-D's)
What is distressing for our modern society is the realization that people who claim to be scientists can behave in such an un-scientific manner, in fact that they behave just like the rest of us selfish, greedy, highly-biased humans.  Scientific and technological advancement is based on the Scientific Method of reproduceable results.  The scientists doing this research are usually (by necessity) dealing with highly specialized data and jargon that the layperson can't follow easily or at all.  We trust the scientific/technological community to rigorously fact-check and verify the results before they come to us and say "the universe is not as you know it".  Global Warming alarmists want to fundamentally change our lives, to greatly diminish our standard of living because of the implications of this seriously flawed 'science'.  If we can't trust the Scientific Method to keep their shit straight, we will never be able to trust what they say.  Sort of like what the Main-Stream Media have done to themselves, except with far more serious implications.

AGW Hoaxters Hacked!

In October I posted an article titled "Blowing Man-Made Global Warming Out of the Hot Water".  I linked articles published by the "Watts Up With That" (shown on sidebar) and "Climate Audit" websites that showed that tree-ring data giving 'ManBearPig' Al Gore his famous Hockey Stick temperature spike at the end of the 20th century had been cherry-picked.  Now someone has gone in and hacked the computers at University of East Anglia (in the UK) where these Global Warming hoaxters are employed and shown e-mails of the scientists' scrambling in response to the exposure.  What is alarming is how the 'scientists' (they really are actually) show no hesitation to hide and distort the data presented to the public to defend their views.  This is what RTPers expect of left wing academia, but it is rare that scientific fraud is exposed like this and noteable (but not surprising) that it is applied to one of the left's key agendas.  The Powerline blog has some good articles, which I saw linked at Ace's.  But, it's going all over the internet and has even shown up in the Washington Post.

This should be huge!
Note - This bear will be just fine:

Blowing Man Made Global Warming out of the Hot Water

The environmental scientists at Climate Audit and Watt's Up With That have blown that 'science' behind Anthropogenic Global Warming (that's Man-Caused Global Warming fer you ignerant Rethuglicans) out of the water. They showed that the folks that put together the reports used to jump start the Global Warming craze back in the '90's were totally cherry-picking that data and not submitting the full data sets for peer review. When asked to provide the full dataset after the flaw was discovered, the pushers of this famous 'Hockey Stick' spike in global temperature in the late 20th century would not release it for general peer review. Totally spitting in the face of true scientific method. They finally released the data earlier this year.

The graph above shows three data sets: the red is the famous 'hockey stick' data taken from twelve cherry-picked trees, the black is the data taken from the rest of the trees in the area in Russia that was measured, and the green is the merging of the two data sets. What this shows is a late 20th century that, though warming, is not atypical at all for the last 2000 years. There is some incredibly good stuff written at these two sites. The main author of the new analysis, Steve McIntyre states
As CA readers also know, until recently, CRU staunchly refused to provide the measurement data used in Briffa's Yamal reconstruction. Science(mag) acquiesced in this refusal in connection with Osborn and Briffa 2006. While the Yamal chronology was used in a Science article, it originated with Briffa 2000 and Science(mag) took the position that the previous journal (which had a different data policy) had jurisdiction. Briffa used the chronology Briffa et al (Phil Trans B, 2008) and the Phil Trans editors finally seized the nettle, requiring Briffa to archive the data. As noted before, Briffa asked for an extension and, when I checked earlier this year, the Yamal measurement data remained unarchived. A few days ago, I noticed that the Yamal data was finally placed online. With the information finally available, this analysis has only taken a few days.

This should add an incredible amount of ammunition to the anti-Cap 'n' Trade fighters. Al Gore, as most reasonable people know, is full of hot air, and bullshit.

A View of Cap 'n' Trade from the Coal Industry

This guy is admittedly not a neutral observer, being the CEO of a coal mining company, but as a fellow member of the electric utility industry, I find his statements compelling.

Some killer statements:
He worries that the country is stuck in a "reg-cession," in which over-regulation will hinder the recovery. (See "How Congress Will Steal The Recovery.") He thinks U.S. trade policy is killing American blue-collar jobs, although he sees China as a booming market for Appalachian coal.
On the logic of Emissions control standards in the US:
The CO2 mandates coming out of EPA. That's the scary part. On a micro basis I've seen specific steel plants and coke ovens go down in the U.S. because they couldn't quite make U.S. standards, and then be moved to South America or Asia where there are no standards. And then [to] have people declare victory that they'd cleaned up the world's atmosphere is pretty crazy.
Good stuff, but of course, he is biased.
